Andrés Iniesta’s Businesses Accused of $600,000 Embezzlement in Peru

Spanish football icon Andrés Iniesta finds his business ventures embroiled in controversy, as he faces accusations of embezzling approximately $600,000 in Peru. Multiple Peruvian business owners have collectively filed lawsuits against two companies linked to the legendary Spanish midfielder, Andrés Iniesta. These legal actions allege significant financial impropriety, including the embezzlement of funds and the theft of property.

As reported by the Dutch newspaper Telegraaf, the core of these lawsuits targets Never Say Never Barcelona and its South American subsidiary, Never Say Never Sudamerica. Both entities, owned by the former Barcelona midfield maestro, specialize in organizing entertainment events across Spain and South America. The central claim within these lawsuits asserts that Peruvian businesses provided sponsorship for several events meticulously planned by Iniesta’s companies. However, these anticipated events reportedly never materialized, and crucially, the two companies failed to return the subsidies, amounting to an estimated $600,000, to the affected sponsors.

The Peruvian prosecutor’s office has launched an official investigation into the matter, indicating that the severity of the allegations could potentially lead to criminal charges. Prosecutors further allege that Iniesta leveraged his considerable personal reputation to draw financing and investments for his business ventures. In light of these serious accusations, the former Barcelona star, who has also played for Vissel Kobe in the Japanese Premier League and in the United Arab Emirates, has yet to issue a public comment.

Andrés Iniesta, aged 41, is widely revered as one of the greatest midfielders and players in the history of football. Over a distinguished 24-year career spanning from 2000 to 2024, Iniesta amassed an impressive 30 trophies with Barcelona, a haul that includes four Champions League titles and nine La Liga crowns. On the international stage with Spain, he was a pivotal figure in their triumphs at Euro 2008, Euro 2012, and the historic 2010 FIFA World Cup. His current estimated net worth stands at $120 million, derived from his illustrious athletic career, endorsement deals, and various business activities.
