FC Barcelona has completed the transfer of striker Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on a long-term loan, effective July 23, 2025.
According to BBC reports, the 27-year-old English forward joins Barcelona on a 12-month loan agreement, which includes a purchase option set at 35 million euros ($41 million) for next year.
Rashford’s move makes him the first English player to sign with Barcelona since Gary Lineker’s transfer in 1986. His departure will save Manchester United between 19 and 20 million over the next 12 months.
Barcelona will reportedly pay Rashford around $375,000 per week for the 12-month period, following his agreement to accept a 25% wage cut from his previous salary at Manchester United.
Rashford has not played for Manchester United since December last year, having been on loan at Aston Villa under Ruben Amorim during the mid-2024-25 season.
A product of Manchester United’s academy since 2005, Rashford turned professional in 2015. He scored 138 goals in 426 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils, contributing to their wins in the FA Cup, EFL Cup, FA Community Shield, and UEFA Europa League.
