Phnom Penh, Cambodia — As of September 8, over 2,000 participants have officially registered for the fourth annual Pink Run event. This significant early registration figure was confirmed by the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), the primary organizer of the event. The Pink Run is held with the crucial objective of raising awareness and disseminating vital knowledge regarding the prevention of breast cancer. Organizers are optimistic, projecting an attendance of between 4,000 and 5,000 participants, with a particular focus on encouraging women to join this important health initiative.
Following three successful previous editions, which garnered strong support, particularly from female runners, the Pink Run is now preparing for its fourth installment in 2026. The much-anticipated event is scheduled to take place on October 25, 2026, in the scenic vicinity of Wat Botum Park. During a recent press conference addressing the run, Mr. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), strongly urged Cambodian women to actively participate in the Pink Run 2026. His encouragement emphasizes the importance of gaining knowledge on breast cancer prevention and treatment. Furthermore, organizers extended an appeal to male runners, inviting them to join in solidarity and demonstrate their support and encouragement for women.
Mr. Vath Chamroeun highlighted that the Pink Run event serves as a crucial opportunity to expand knowledge and bolster the fight against breast cancer among Cambodian women. He further emphasized its role in promoting women’s health and public health through active participation in sports. The NOCC Secretary-General reiterated his expectation that the event will meet its target of attracting between 4,000 and 5,000 participants for the 2026 run. In an added initiative, two days prior to the main event, the Pink Run organizers, in collaboration with private partner companies, will provide free breast cancer screening opportunities specifically for female participants. This initiative, as confirmed by Mr. Chamroeun, aims to encourage women to be proactive and courageous in undergoing regular health check-ups and maintaining their overall well-being in daily life.
According to Mr. Sem Phalla, Chairman of the Marathon Organizing Committee in Cambodia, the registration numbers as of September 8 have indeed surpassed 2,000. Specifically, 1,242 runners have signed up for the 10-kilometer category, while the 5-kilometer and 2.5-kilometer categories combined account for over 800 participants.
It is worth recalling that in 2025, the Pink Run event saw participation from over 4,000 individuals, marking a 20 percent increase compared to 2024. Notably, women constituted more than 60 percent of all participants in that year, underscoring their strong engagement in this health-focused initiative.
