Senegalese football star Sadio Mané is making a significant impact beyond the pitch, committing a substantial personal investment of $20 million towards a transformative development project in his home country. The former Liverpool striker is funding the construction of a modern agro-industrial park, named SM10 Agro, located in his hometown of Bambali. This ambitious project spans an expansive 500 hectares and will feature a large-scale mango farm alongside advanced fruit processing factories. The initiative is projected to create up to 2,000 jobs within the region, aiming to foster long-term economic sustainability and improve local livelihoods. Complementing the industrial facilities, a dedicated training and research center will also be established, with a primary focus on mango cultivation and processing, highlighting its importance to the local economy.
Mané, now 34 years old and currently playing for Al Nassr, has personally confirmed that the entire project will be financed through his own funds. The construction phase for the agro-industrial park is anticipated to span approximately 18 months, indicating a swift progression towards its operational launch.
This latest investment is consistent with Sadio Mané’s well-documented commitment to social development in Senegal, extending his influence far beyond his football career. Previously, the prolific striker, who recently retired from the Senegal national team, has significantly contributed to national welfare by funding the construction of vital infrastructure, including hospitals to provide essential healthcare services and schools to ensure access to free education for local communities.
His philanthropic endeavors also encompass technological and civic advancements, such as funding the establishment of a 4G network in the region, providing improved connectivity. Furthermore, Mané has overseen the construction of essential services like gas stations and post offices, alongside building a modern stadium designed to benefit local youth and promote sports within the community.
Beyond large-scale infrastructure projects, Sadio Mané also provides direct financial and material support to his village residents. This includes a monthly stipend of approximately $80 USD to every family in his hometown. Additionally, he facilitates the distribution of clothing to children, provides laptops, and offers bonuses to students who achieve strong academic performance, further demonstrating his holistic approach to community upliftment.
