Danielle Vos, who plays for Kitchee in Hong Kong, criticized the Hong Kong Football Federation (HKFA) after her team’s training ground was reallocated to Al Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo trains. The 40-year-old Portuguese striker is currently in Hong Kong with Al Nassr for the Saudi Super Cup.
Vos, a defender, expressed her anger on social media regarding the HKFA’s decision. She noted the disappointment following the reassignment of their booked training ground to Al Nassr. “An absolute shame!” Vos declared, after her team missed multiple training sessions. She further criticized the federation’s priorities, stating, “The Federation already has a project that neglects women’s soccer in Hong Kong. Last week, we booked the court for our AFC Women’s Champions League training, but the federation canceled it to accommodate Al Nassr.”
Kitchee typically trains on artificial grass pitches. However, with an upcoming AFC Women’s Champions League Group Stage match against Crown FC on August 28 in Cambodia, the team needed to adapt to natural grass. Vos and the Kitchee team had planned to train on a natural grass pitch before heading to Cambodia for the Crown FC match, and then on to India to face East Bengal Women. Hong Kong is hosting the Saudi Super Cup, a pre-season event for the 2025 Saudi Pro League. The four major Saudi teams participating are Al Nassr (featuring Ronaldo), Al Ittihad, Al Qadisiyah, and Al Ahli.
