Neymar In Tears After Santos’ Staggering 6-0 Defeat

Neymar Jr. was seen leaving the field in tears after Santos FC suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat to Vasco Da Gama in the Brazilian Serie A. This crushing loss is described as the most embarrassing failure of his career, marking the first time a Santos FC team with him has conceded six goals in the league.

Santos FC, an eight-time Brazilian champion, now finds itself dangerously close to the relegation zone, holding a slim two-point lead. Following the match, coach Cleber Xavier was immediately fired hours after the result.

Vasco Da Gama’s victory, their largest in 17 years and first in six matches, was significantly boosted by two goals from midfielder Philippe Coutinho, formerly of Liverpool and Aston Villa.

The defeat deeply disappointed fans, leading to protests for immediate solutions at the club. Neymar Jr. expressed his dismay to journalists after the match, stating, “I have never seen this before in my life. This unfortunately I can’t help anything. I think all today should go home and sleeping thinking about what happened today, and what do they want to do next.”

The 33-year-old, known for his record EUR 222 million transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, recently returned to Santos FC this mid-season after terminating his contract with Al Hilal due to frequent injuries. Since his return, he has made 12 appearances, registering 6 assists.
