Following Manchester United’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, manager Ruben Amorim has publicly stated that he is not concerned about his future at the club.
The match against Brentford had been anticipated as an opportunity for United to secure a second consecutive Premier League victory, following their win against Chelsea the previous week. However, the 3-1 loss delivered a fresh wave of disappointment for Amorim and the team in their league campaign.
The significant 3-1 defeat intensified scrutiny on the Portuguese manager, leading to numerous questions from journalists regarding his long-term prospects at the Old Trafford club.
In response to these inquiries, Amorim asserted that while his future ultimately rests with the club’s leadership, he personally remains unconcerned. He stated, “I feel good at work now, I’m not worried about the future. It’s not my decision. I’ll try to do the best work in whatever I can do every second I have, every minute I have. I’ve never worried about my job; I’m not that kind of man.”
Amorim has consistently maintained that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the club’s hierarchy continue to place significant trust in his leadership of the Red Devils, despite the team’s inconsistent results. Following the loss, Manchester United currently sits in 14th position in the Premier League table, accumulating only seven points from six matches played. Brentford, with the same number of points, is positioned just above them in 13th place.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, there were several other notable results. Chelsea suffered another defeat, losing 3-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion, while Liverpool also fell to a 2-1 loss against Crystal Palace. Manchester City secured a dominant 5-1 victory over Burnley. Leeds United played out a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, and Sunderland claimed a 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest. Tottenham Hotspur concluded their match with a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
