A severe traffic accident involving a vehicle associated with prominent boxer Anthony Joshua has progressed to the legal phase, with the driver now formally charged. The incident tragically resulted in two fatalities, members of Joshua’s coaching staff.
Nigerian authorities have identified the driver as Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46 years old. He has been accused of reckless driving, directly leading to the deaths of two individuals. Further investigations revealed that Kayode did not possess a valid driving license at the time of the fatal collision. He is currently being held in custody, awaiting trial and the imposition of applicable penalties.
The devastating incident, which occurred on December 29, deeply shocked Anthony Joshua’s entire team. Two crucial members of his coaching staff, who were seated in the front passenger seats of the vehicle, tragically lost their lives instantly in the collision.
Former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua himself was also present in the vehicle, a Lexus sedan. The accident took place as the group was traveling from the bustling city of Lagos towards Ibadan in Nigeria’s Ogun Province.
