Arsenal Seals Eberechi Eze Signing from Crystal Palace for Over $91 Million

Arsenal has finalized the signing of highly-rated attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace for over $91 million. The 27-year-old, who previously played in Arsenal’s youth system, watched his new team secure a dominant 5-0 victory over Leeds United shortly after joining.

Eze’s versatility allows him to play as an attacking midfielder or on the wing, making him a crucial addition for Mikel Arteta’s squad as they challenge for silverware. The transfer is also seen as a significant market success for Arsenal, especially given the intense competition from rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who had pursued Eze for over two weeks compared to Arsenal’s swift deal. English media reports indicate Arsenal spent approximately £68 million ($91.95 million) to secure his services. Eze will wear the coveted number 10 shirt.

This acquisition of the English international brings Arsenal’s total spending for the new season to an estimated £260 million ($350 million). The club’s primary objective remains to contend for the Premier League title and other major trophies.

Last season, Eze was instrumental for Crystal Palace, helping them win the FA Cup and contributing significantly with 14 goals and 11 assists. His arrival is expected to enhance Arsenal’s midfield creativity and chance creation, complementing the recent purchase of a lone striker aimed at boosting goal conversion rates.

Arsenal’s dominant 5-0 Premier League win against Leeds United, which Eze attended just one day after his transfer, saw goals from Viktor Gyokeres (2 goals in the 48th and 90+5 minutes), Bukayo Saka (45+1 minute), and defender Jurrien Timber (2 goals in the 34th and 56th minutes).

According to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who spoke to BeIN Sports, Eze personally contacted him to express his strong desire to join the team, assuring he could adapt to any position required. Arteta praised the 27-year-old’s determination and commitment to the club, which ultimately led to the agreement.
