Casemiro, Manchester United’s midfielder, has expressed strong confidence that the club is on the right trajectory for the 2025-26 Premier League season, following a recent match against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian, a key starter for United under manager Ruben Amorim, has consistently shown good form, contributing defensively and in ball distribution.
While Manchester United has a history of losing opening league matches in three of the last six seasons, a recent defeat against Arsenal still showcased positive aspects and the Red Devils’ competitive level. In that game, Arsenal scored in the 13th minute due to an error from goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, with Gabriel involved.
Despite the loss, statistics revealed United’s attacking intent: they registered 22 shots compared to Arsenal’s nine, with seven on target. However, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya made crucial saves, and several United shots hit the woodwork. United also controlled possession with 61% against Arsenal’s 39%, though they ultimately couldn’t secure a victory over the home team.
Casemiro acknowledged manager Amorim’s vision, believing it capable of guiding the team to improvement after a challenging previous season. The former Real Madrid midfielder stressed the high expectations at the club and his hope for a return to its past glory.
“Manchester United always pursues a winning mentality,” Casemiro stated. “While defeat is never acceptable, we must always aim to win. I believe we performed well in that game; we played very good football, but we also need victories. Now, we’re on the right path.” The 33-year-old midfielder affirmed.
Casemiro joined United in 2022 for £70 million ($94 million) and has since made approximately 126 appearances across all competitions.
