Casemiro: Manchester United Is On The Right Track

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro expressed strong confidence that the club is heading in the right direction, despite a recent loss to Arsenal in the opening game of the 2025-26 Premier League season at Old Trafford.

Under manager Ruben Amorim, the Brazilian midfielder, who has been in good form, played as a protective midfielder, creating many promising plays. Manchester United had lost three of their last six opening league matches but, despite last week’s defeat, the team demonstrated positive form and a high level of competitiveness.

Arsenal scored in the 13th minute, a goal that stemmed from an error by goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, with Gabriel involved. The Red Devils recorded 22 shots compared to Arsenal’s nine, with seven on target. However, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya made crucial saves, and some attempts also struck the posts. Manchester United maintained 61% of ball possession against Arsenal’s 39%, yet they couldn’t capitalize on their dominance.

Casemiro acknowledged manager Amorim’s vision, believing it can guide the team to improvement after a challenging past season. The former Real Madrid midfielder reiterated the club’s high expectations and hopes for a return to its glorious past.

“Manchester United always approaches things with wisdom. I don’t want to say that defeat is okay, but we have to win. Manchester United always wins. I think we performed well in that game; we played very good, but we also needed victory. Now we’re on the right path,” the 33-year-old midfielder stated.

Casemiro joined United in 2022 for a fee of £70 million ($94 million) and has since made approximately 126 appearances across all competitions.
