Japan’s snowboarding team has achieved an outstanding performance at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, securing a remarkable total of nine medals across various disciplines. This significant haul, comprising four gold, two silver, and three bronze medals, positions Japan as the leading nation in snowboarding at this year’s Games. Their success spanned three key events: Big Air, Halfpipe, and Slopestyle, demonstrating comprehensive excellence on the snow.

This year’s medal count marks a substantial improvement for the Japanese team, tripling their performance compared to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. The athletes showcased exceptional skill and determination, contributing to a truly memorable Olympic campaign.

In the men’s Big Air competition, Kira Kimura delivered a gold-medal-winning performance with a score of 179.50 points, captivating judges and spectators alike. His compatriot, Ryoma Kimata, added to Japan’s success by earning a silver medal in the same event, scoring 171.50 points.

Moving to the men’s Halfpipe, Yuto Totsuka executed a flawless routine to claim the gold medal with an impressive score of 95.00 points, showcasing outstanding aerial maneuvers and rotations. Murase continued her medal-winning form by also clinching a bronze medal in the women’s Slopestyle event, achieving a score of 85.80 points. The gold medal in this event was won by her Japanese teammate, Mari Fukada, with a score of 87.83 points, while Zoi Sadowski Synnott added a silver medal to her collection with 87.48 points. Another bronze medal for Japan came from Mitsuki Ono in the women’s Halfpipe, who scored 85.00 points.
