Manchester United has achieved a significant milestone in the current Premier League season, climbing into the top four for the first time following a crucial victory over Fulham. This impressive surge comes as Arsenal further extended their lead at the top of the table, capitalizing on rival Manchester City’s dropped points.
On Premier League match week 24, interim manager Michael Carrick guided Manchester United to a dramatic 3-2 win against Fulham at Old Trafford. The Red Devils initially took a commanding lead with goals from Casemiro in the 19th minute and Matheus Cunha in the 56th minute, establishing a 2-0 advantage. However, Fulham, under manager Marco Silva, mounted a late comeback. Raúl Jiménez converted an 85th-minute penalty, followed by an equalizer from Kevin in the first minute of stoppage time (90+1), leveling the score at 2-2. Just three minutes after Fulham’s dramatic comeback, substitute Benjamin Šeško, who had entered the game in the 74th minute, netted the decisive goal, securing a thrilling 3-2 victory for Carrick’s team.
This pivotal win propelled Manchester United into fourth place in the league standings after 24 games. Under the guidance of interim manager Michael Carrick, who took over from Ruben Amorim, the Red Devils have enjoyed a perfect run, winning all three matches since his appointment and accumulating 41 points. They now sit five points behind Aston Villa, six points adrift of Manchester City, and 12 points behind league leaders Arsenal. Arsenal solidified their grip at the summit of the Premier League table, widening their lead after securing a dominant 4-0 victory over Leeds. This was further aided by Manchester City dropping points in a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. With 14 games remaining in the season, Arsenal now holds a six-point advantage over their closest rivals. Meanwhile, Chelsea moved up to third place with 42 points, just one point ahead of Manchester United. At the other end of the table, Wolves remain rooted to the bottom with a mere eight points, while West Ham United (20 points) and Burnley (15 points) are also currently positioned in the relegation zone.
