Mohamed Salah Wins PFA Player of the Year Award

Mohamed Salah has been named the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season. The Egyptian international striker, who plays for Liverpool, is the first player in history to win this prestigious individual award three times.

The 33-year-old striker had an exceptional season, winning the Golden Boot with 29 goals and providing 18 Premier League assists. He was a key player for Liverpool, helping them secure the British top-flight title under the leadership of Arne Slot. These achievements were instrumental in Salah earning his third PFA Player of the Year award, surpassing all other nominees.

Salah first won the PFA award in 2018, during his debut season with Liverpool, and again in 2022. He was among the final six candidates, chosen by 92 fellow Premier League and Football League players in the UK. The other players on the shortlist were Bruno Fernandes, Alexis Mac Allister, Alexander Isak, Declan Rice, and Cole Palmer.

Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers, 23, was named Young Player of the Year. He scored 8 goals in 37 Premier League appearances and also played in the European Champions League, scoring a hat-trick against Celtic.

Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey was awarded the Women’s Player of the Year, having scored 9 goals in her debut season with Arsenal and eight goals in the Women’s UEFA Champions League. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Canadian Olivia Smith received the Women’s Young Player of the Year award.

The PFA Team of the Year XI included: Matz Sels (Nottingham Forest) in goal; Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool), Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth), William Saliba (Arsenal), and Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal) in defense; Declan Rice (Arsenal), Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool), and Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool) in midfield; and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Alexander Isak (Newcastle United), and Chris Wood (Nottingham Forest) in attack.
