The International Football Federation (FIFA) has reported an overwhelming response to its initial ticket registration phase for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Within just 24 hours of the pre-launch announcement on September 11, the governing body received more than 1.5 million ticket requests from fans across 210 countries and territories. This significant demand underscores the global anticipation for the expanded tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, marks a historic expansion for the competition. For the first time, 48 national teams will participate, leading to an increase in the total number of matches to an unprecedented 104 games. These matches will be spread across 16 state-of-the-art stadiums in the three host nations.
The initial online ticket registration period commenced on September 11 and concluded on September 19. Applicants who successfully registered their interest will be notified via email starting September 29. These successful registrants will then be given a specific timeframe, beginning October 1, to finalize their ticket purchases.
This first phase of ticket availability was specifically targeted at ardent supporters from the three host countries. Prices for group stage matches are expected to start from approximately $60. FIFA has indicated that ticket values will progressively increase throughout the tournament, with final match tickets potentially reaching up to $6,730. It is important to note that actual prices may fluctuate based on various factors.
