The chaotic scene transpired at a high-end bar located within the Porto Marina resort in El Alamein, Egypt, where Hassan was reportedly on a summer vacation. Eyewitness accounts suggest the dispute erupted between his first wife, Howaida El Gharbawy, and his second wife, Dina Mustafa. The argument quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, with both women reportedly engaging in a public brawl, pulling each other’s hair amidst numerous bewildered tourists and patrons. Family members present at the scene attempted to intervene and separate the women, before security personnel were called to the location. Both wives reportedly sustained scratches and bruises from the altercation.
According to reports, Hassan was profoundly distressed by the escalating conflict, so much so that he fainted while attempting to intervene and calm his wives. Following this harrowing event, news emerged that the 60-year-old coach, fresh from his duties related to the 2026 World Cup, proceeded with a formal divorce from his first wife. He reportedly signed the necessary divorce papers at a legal registration office in Cairo.
Hassan had been married to his first wife for several decades, and together they share three children. His marriage to his second wife commenced in 2015, a period during which he was still legally married to his first wife. While there was a brief separation from his second wife in 2022, they later reconciled. Hassan has two children with his second wife.
