Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany was rushed to the hospital on October 23rd after experiencing a sudden medical emergency. The incident occurred when Kompany, 40, fainted during a training session with the club’s reserve team at their official training grounds.
The Belgian national is currently under close medical observation and receiving treatment for an infection. According to an official statement released by the German football giants, Kompany has been battling this infection for several days, a condition believed to be the underlying cause of his collapse.
Bayern Munich has confirmed Kompany’s health status, emphasizing that he is being closely monitored by medical professionals. The club also stated its commitment to providing him with adequate time for rest and a full recovery. In Kompany’s absence, his dedicated coaching staff will assume responsibility for leading the team’s training sessions and overseeing preparations for upcoming matches.
Kompany’s recent health struggles had been previously noted. He had reportedly missed some team coaching duties in the days leading up to Bayern Munich’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Arsenal. Following that particular match, the former Manchester City defender and ex-Burnley manager openly acknowledged that he had contracted an infection affecting his well-being, despite his continued efforts to fulfill his coaching responsibilities.
On the field, Bayern Munich currently holds a dominant position at the top of the German Bundesliga table, having accumulated 14 points after six weeks of competition. Their strong start to the season positions them favorably as they prepare for their Week 7 encounter against Freiburg, a team also performing well and sitting third in the league, just one point behind Bayern.
