Barcelona’s Unbeaten Streak Ends as Hansi Flick Cites ‘Too Many Mistakes’ in 4-2 Champions League Loss to PSG

Barcelona’s impressive start to the 2026-27 season has come to an abrupt halt following a 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in a UEFA Champions League encounter on October 20. The significant loss, which took place at the Parc des Princes, brings an end to the Catalan club’s remarkable 11-game winning streak across all competitions.

Manager Hansi Flick expressed his disappointment after the match, directly attributing the defeat to numerous errors made by his squad. The German coach noted that the team’s perfect record for the new season, previously untarnished, was consequently broken, emphasizing the need for immediate improvement.

During the high-stakes Champions League tie, Paris Saint-Germain delivered a strong performance on home turf. Goals from Desire Doue, Lucas Hernandez, Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz each contributed to their commanding victory. This result also notably marks PSG’s third consecutive win against Barcelona in their last three UEFA Champions League meetings.

Barcelona managed to find the back of the net twice, with goals scored by Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal. However, these two efforts ultimately proved insufficient to overturn PSG’s lead and secure any points from the challenging fixture.

Reflecting on the intense contest, the 61-year-old Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick, commented, “I think this meeting was truly great for both teams. However, we made far too many mistakes, especially concerning our ball control. We found ourselves easily losing possession back to the opponent.” He further added, “This is something we have already evaluated, but I also see some good points from our overall performance despite the result.”
